Why Go Public?

Update, May 2016: LLL changed its policy about the eligibility of Leader Applicants in 2014 to be inclusive of transgender people. Trevor became accredited as a Leader in May, 2016.

Because of comments like this one, posted in my new Facebook group, Birthing and Breastfeeding Transmen and Allies. Heather Ling gave me permission to share her words:

"Thank you so much for accepting my request to join this group. You are all an inspiration to me. I am the mother of a young ftm [female-to-male] and knowing that trailblazers like all of you are breaking down the barriers gives me hope that my son will be able to make a supported decision in his adult years on how to create and raise a family.
I nursed my kids and would never want that wonderful bonding experience to be missed by anyone, regardless of their identifying gender."

UPDATE! LLL International has announced they will reconsider their policies.
Please support an inclusive vision of breastfeeding families by sending the Board a message!

  1. I came here by way of your Out article and Facebook. I wish I could think of a better way of telling you how awesome it is that you're not only willing to talk about your experience, but also that you're persevering through difficulties to breastfeed. You are an inspiration to anyone who is breastfeeding in any capacity. LLL is losing the potential for a super leader because of their rigid rules. I would have been proud to have you as a leader (and probably would have attended more meetings, too.) Your son will have a wonderful father in you and a great family. Thank you for making this a known issue. Best wishes.

  2. I am so impressed by you coming out with this. In the past day I have been reading your story, and another honest real story about abortion, and between the two of you, I am in awe of the courage. As a cis woman, I dealt with some crazy essentializing BS around my difficulty in BF, and eventual decision to stop. But that was nothing compared to what you have faced. So thank you. And I hope that you start your skype based support group, because I think you have so much to share. Good luck!

  3. The Wallabies were left seething at full time when the TMO refused to award a clear penalty for a deliberate knock on from an Irish star right at the moment the Wallabies appeared to be on the verge of a famous last-gasp win. The incredible series hich has seen Ireland win the Landsdowne Cup 2-1 — ended in absolute shambles when the TMO failed to make a decision that Irish player Jacob Stockdale had deliberately stuck out his hand to stop Bernard Foley passing to three un-marked Wallabies players on the wing.He stepped one defender and then tried to throw a pass to Dane Haylett-Petty on the wing, but his pass was cut-off by Stockdale and the ball drifted over the sideline behind three Wallabies players.

  4. Over the next couple of years Dillian Whyte appeared in many undercard fights including Luke Campbell’s clash against Tommy Coyle for the WBC Lightweight title. He maintained his undefeated streak against heavy hitters like Marcelo Luiz Nascimento, Beka Lobjanidze and Irineu Beato Costa Junior of Brazil.
